Overview of Training
This training program is 160 hours in length and is all hands-on learning. The actual time taken to complete the training varies, depending on how many hours your schedule allows you to allocate to your training.
The training begins with a practice-based course, Computational Literacy I, in which you learn how computers think, how they operate, and how to direct them to do work. You use a virtual robot to solve various simple tasks. In this way you learn essential skills such as how to identify repeating patterns and how to break complex problems into simpler ones.
In the next practice-based course, Data Literacy I, you learn about data and databases, with emphasis on Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMSs), which are used in virtually all industries and organizations to store data about employees, products, services, inventory, financial transactions, etc.
At the same time as you learn new computational and data hard skills, you develop important soft skills, including the ability to focus, to pay attention to detail, to communicate effectively, to solve problems, to use logic so as to make correct decisions, to plan ahead so as to do it right the first time, to persevere, to learn from failure, and to adapt to changing conditions, among others.
Preparation for a 21st Century Career
Depending on the career path you are on, you complete two additional courses from the ones listed below to complete your training and receive your Industry 4.0 Immersion Training Certificate.
- In Computational Literacy II, you learn more ways in which computers think, how they operate, and how to direct them to do work. Upon completing the program, you have acquired the mindset and skills needed to successfully deal with automation and intelligent machines.
- If you have an interest in working with data, in Data Literacy II, you learn how to make basic queries, use aggregate functions, and create and manage tables.
- If computer programming is of interest, in Visual Introduction to Python, you learn Python by programming a virtual robotic turtle. You begin with drawing simple geometric patterns, and soon you're able to follow lines on the ground and navigate complex mazes with the help of the turtle’s color and distance sensors.
- If you have an interest in 3D space and solving problems spatially, in Spatial Literacy, you develop strong visual-spatial reasoning skills while actively building 2D and 3D models. You begin with creating simple 2D shapes, learn how to manipulate them in the XY plane, how to extrude them to the 3D space, and soon you make your first 3D designs. Your 3D models are automatically checked by the server, and you receive instant feedback and guidance. At the end of the training program, you create a capstone 3D model of your own choice under the supervision of a CAD expert.
Upon successfully completing your Industry 4.0 Immersion training, the sky is the limit because you have shown that you are able to apply yourself and learn 21st century automation-related skills.
Below are two exciting career training programs that we offer that use the same learn-by-doing approach and that you will be imminently qualified to take when you complete your immersion training. We would welcome the opportunity to tell you all about them.
Become A Data Analyst
Join the workforce as a job-ready Data Analyst, at a time when the demand for qualified Data Analysts far outstrips the supply.
Virtually all enterprises have now reached “data overload” and need Data Analysts to help them make sense of the massive amounts of information so that management can make better and faster decisions. Interestingly, Indeed.com, a job placement company, lists over 8,000 Data Analyst jobs that allow you to work in place, independent of where you live.
According to Salary.com, the median compensation of Data Analysts is over $80,000.
Become A Python Programmer
Python Development is an equally rapidly growing field in which the demand for job-ready programmers far outstrips the supply. Indeed.com, a job placement company, currently lists over 87,000 Python Programmer job openings in the U.S. alone. Interestingly, Indeed.com also lists over 24,000 remote Python Programmer jobs that allow you to work in place, independent of where you live.
The average entry-level Python Programmer salary in the U.S. is $78,176, the junior Python Programmer salary is $89,776, and the senior Python Programmer salary is $122,093 (source: devskiller.com).
