FINISHED: VERSION 0.9.13 OF NCLAB
In addition to many routine fixes and improvements, a major step forward in the new version is an Admin Panel for teachers where they can follow the progress of their students and manage their accounts. The My School panel can be found under the icon Admin on your desktop. If you are a teacher in multiple institutions, select your school in the upper right corner. All functionality is intuitive. To modify the account of one or multiple students, select them in the list.
IN PROGRESS: NEW VERSION OF THE 3D MODELING COURSE
We are now performing a major improvement of NCLab’s self-paced 3D modeling course. Part of it is exposing more features of the PLaSM library, such as extrusion of 2D objects to 3D (see on the right). The new version of the course will begin in 2D where students will learn shapes as well as transformations and boolean operations by creating simple and fun designs such as the Pacman, Mitsubishi logo etc. When going to 3D, they will just build on what they already know from 2D, so the learning curve will be less steep. Teachers will not be required to know anything about 3D modeling, students will be guided entirely by the computer program as in Karel. Stay tuned, teachers will have free access to the course as usual!
IN PROGRESS: THOROUGH REDESIGN OF THE HOME PAGE
NCLab is used by K-12 and college-level students, home schooled kids, parents, K-12 teachers, college instructors, scientists, and engineers. That does not make it easy to design a single home page that would fit the needs of all! Therefore, the next version of our home page will have a signpost where everyone will be able to go see his favorite contents right away. Our designers are on it, the process will take a few weeks.
