Our Computational Literacy For Modern Careers training program aims to change that. If you are willing to put in the effort, we will take you on a journey where you will learn how computers think, how they operate, and how you can use them to solve problems. You will find yourself utilizing new skills that you never imagined existed.
At the same time as you’ll learn new hard skills, you’ll develop important soft skills, including the ability to focus, pay attention to detail, communicate, solve problems, use logic and make correct decisions, plan ahead and do it right the first time, persevere, learn from failure, and adapt to changing conditions, among others.

This self-paced course is for people who want to acquire automation-related skills and participate in the new automation-based economy.
What are the prerequisites for taking this training?
The only prerequisite is the successful completion of a two-hour self-assessment.
How much of a need is there for people with automation-related skills?
There is a huge need for employees with automation-related skills and employers are willing to pay for those skills.
In manufacturing alone, the latest 2021 report by the Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte estimates that there will be 2.1 million jobs that will go unfilled over the next ten years because of the lack of automation-related skills in the labor force.
Existing proven employees are the natural place for employers to go to fill those new positions and employers often provide reimbursement for this course's tuition.
What happens if my job or family responsibilities interfere with my training?
Because the training is self-paced, the only effect that responsibilities will have is that they will extend the time it'll require you to complete your training but you'll never miss training sessions because of family and work requirements.
What happens when I complete my training?
Upon successful completion of this training, we provide you with a Shasta College-issued “Computational Literacy for Modern Careers” Certificate of Completion and you have the right skillset to grow in our new automation-based economy.
