Are you interested in a career in dialysis? Dialysis technicians are in high demand: millions of people with kidney disease depend on dialysis. The hemodialysis process routes the patient’s blood through a circuit that removes water and waste from the body. A dialysis technician must be familiar with the machine, the process, and the protocols, but is also a caring human being who communicates well with patients. This video illustrates how dialysis works, and why a gentle approach is important.

With NCLab, you can try out some skills that you might need as a technician. To understand the dialysis process, you need to know some science, math, engineering and technology – in other words, STEM skills. Click on the module link to begin. (available soon!)
