Chromebook test

Today we tested NCLab on a Chromebook and it SHINES! Photo shows GNU Octave demo script and its output. We were worried that we will have to reduce the default size of some windows because of the smaller display but there is absolutely no need for that. 3D graphics (WebGL) works out of the box.

HTML 5

We are happy to announce that NCLab now operates in HTML 5! Probably the most significant change for the user is that advanced 3D graphics (WebGL) is now much more stable. It works in Internet Explorer as well as on mobile devices. You do no longer need to go into your web browser’s settings and

NCLab CAD Challenge 2012 Winners

3D printing service

3D printing makes learning geometry and solid modeling much more fun. That’s why NCLab is launching a new non-profit 3D printing service on Jan 1, 2013 – you pay just for material and shipping. Starting with Basic Plan, NCLab users can benefit from a complimentary non-profit 3D printing service that we have established to support

NCLab 0.9 released

We are pleased to announce that NCLab 0.9 was released! Most changes that we made will facilitate further expansion of NCLab and they are invisible to the user. But there are also quite a few that you will notice. NCLab’s browser-based file system was completely redesigned and several new services and features were added. Here

Happy Holidays from the NCLab Team

Dear NCLab Users, the NCLab Team wishes you Merry Christmas and thanks you for your continued support. This time of year is relatively quiet in NCLab and therefore we are busy with testing, tuning, and upgrading. You may find the system down for maintenance from time to time. In January, you should see many improvements

CAD Model of Water Molecule

During an NCLab workshop in Ely, NV a chemistry teacher suggested that PLaSM could be used to create 3D models of molecules. Indeed it is very easy — see the screenshots. The project can be cloned via the File Manager’s Project -> Clone menu. Its name is Chemistry – Molecules -> Water.

Python Textbook Open Source Project

The NCLab textbook Introduction to Python Programming was turned into an open source project. The complete sources are available in the repository nclab-textbook-python on Github. The textbook comprises exercises and review questions, and it assumes no prior knowledge of programming. Many thanks to all contributors!

New Release is Coming!

NCLab’s infrastructure is undergoing large changes at the moment. Most of them are related to the file system which is emulated using a distributed database. Most of this work will be invisible to the user, but it will have very positive effects on further NCLab development. And, some of these changes will be visible to
